Colt Seavers, once a Hollywood stunt double for action star Tom Ryder, suffers a career-ending back injury during a stunt gone wrong and subsequently leaves his career and his girlfriend, camerawoman Jody Moreno.

Eighteen months later, Colt is working as a valet at a small Mexican restaurant when he is approached by Gail Meyer, Tom’s film producer. Gail informs Colt that Jody is directing her first film, a space opera titled Metalstorm, starring Tom, and she wants Colt to join the production in Sydney. Upon arrival, Colt discovers that Jody never requested his presence and is still resentful over their breakup, with the film serving as a thinly veiled critique of their past relationship.

Gail confides that Tom has gone missing after entangling himself with dangerous individuals, and she needs Colt to find him to prevent the overbudget film from being canceled. Determined to help Jody’s directorial debut succeed, Colt begins his search for Tom. He visits Tom’s apartment and meets his girlfriend and co-star, Iggy, who provides a lead.

Colt then heads to a nightclub and encounters drug dealer Doone, who tricks him into consuming a hallucinogenic cocktail. After a brawl with Doone’s henchmen, Colt finds a dead body in Tom’s hotel room bathtub filled with ice. When he returns to the police, the body has vanished.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, 81% of 353 critics gave positive reviews, resulting in an average score of 7.1/10.
