Plot
Aju, Bibi, and Shanthan move from Kerala to Bangalore, Karnataka, to study aeronautical engineering at Vaana Veekshan College. They choose to stay at BK Hostel, managed by the college clerk BK because it offers more freedom compared to the college accommodations. Initially, their experience is enjoyable until they clash with Kutty, a senior student, leading to a bruised ego for Kutty. In retaliation, Kutty and his gang abduct the trio, beat them up, and then oddly extend an offer of friendship. Humiliated,
Aju seeks revenge and takes his friends on a hunt through various bars looking for gangsters. This quest leads them to Ranga, a notable and eccentric Malayali-Kannadiga gangster known for his all-white attire and kind-hearted nature.
One night, after the trio gets drunk, Ranga drives them back to their hostel. However, the hostel warden warns them about arriving late, citing hostel rules. Consequently, Ranga takes them to his old house to stay the night as a gesture of goodwill.
The trio becomes disillusioned with Ranga, realizing his gang’s activities are mostly minor violence and excessive praise for Ranga. Bibi confronts Ranga about their earlier conflict with Kutty, prompting Ranga to retaliate fiercely during the college Holi celebration. He publicly beats up Kutty and his gang. Despite this, the trio faces expulsion due to failing their exams and their association with Ranga. However, they are given a second chance with a promise to pass all future exams.
Review
The Indian Express awarded the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, describing it as “Jithu Madhavan’s gangster comedy.” Similarly, The Times of India also gave it 3.5 stars, praising it for “scripting superb side characters.” India Today matched these ratings, giving the film 3.5 out of 5 stars as well.
