Plot

In the 1980s Bombay, Albert Arogyasami returns home after a seven-year absence on Christmas Eve. Outside his house, he is warmly greeted by his elderly neighbor, who gifts him a bottle of homemade wine he fondly calls Yadhoom. The neighbor informs Albert that his mother passed away peacefully some time ago and invites him to dinner before leaving.

After taking a look around his neglected home, Albert visits a restaurant/bar, where he meets Maria, a woman abandoned by her date because she brought her mute daughter, Annie. Later that night, Albert coincidentally encounters Maria and Annie again at a cinema, and they connect. Maria invites Albert to her apartment to celebrate Christmas Eve. He tells her an architect has just returned from Dubai, while Maria shares that she owns a bakery House.

At her home, Albert empties his pockets and hangs a “bird in a cage” ornament on Maria’s Christmas tree. As they bond over wine and dancing, Maria opens up about her troubled marriage with Jerome. Albert reveals his past with Rosie, whom he had eloped with to Goa seven years ago and who has since passed away. They decide to go for a walk, and Maria leaves a note for her husband.

Upon returning, they find Jerome dead on the couch with a gun in his hand. Maria suggests calling the police, but Albert insists he doesn’t want any involvement with them again.
