The Goat Life: OTT Release Date, Box Office Collection, and Cast

Blessy Directed, wrote, and co-produced the 2024 Malayalam-language survival drama film The Goat Life. The movie is based on Benyamin’s 2008 novel of the same name, which draws inspiration from real-life events.

The Goat Life Story

In Saudi Arabia, Najeeb Muhammed and Hakim, two Malayali immigrants, arrive hoping for a better life, their visas arranged by Sreekumar, a mutual acquaintance. Upon arrival at the airport, they are mistaken by a local Arab who assumes he is their employer. After a lengthy journey, they are separated, with Najeeb assigned to work in a remote desert goat herd.

Facing brutal conditions and loneliness, Najeeb witnesses the death of a fellow goatherd, realizing the dangers he faces. After enduring years of hardship, he is reunited with Hakim, who introduces him to Ibrahim Khadiri, a Somalian goatherd familiar with escape routes. They seize an opportunity during Khafeel’s daughter’s wedding. Fleeing into the unforgiving desert.

Their journey becomes a struggle for survival as they battle hunger and uncertainty, leading to Hakim’s tragic death and Najeeb’s brush with death. Eventually, Khadiri also disappears, leaving Najeeb to navigate the desert alone. With the unexpected help of a passing Arab, Najeeb finally reaches civilization and finds solace in a local Malayali restaurant owned by Kunjikka, who takes him in and nurses him back to health.
