Plot:

Quiet Place Samira, a terminally ill cancer patient, resides in a hospice near New York City with her cat, Frodo. Despite her reluctance, Sam is persuaded by Reuben, a nurse, to join a group outing to a marionette show in Manhattan. While in the city, the group witnesses meteor-like objects crashing to the ground, which soon reveal themselves to be hostile extraterrestrial creatures attacking people. Amid the chaos, Sam is knocked unconscious.

She later regains consciousness in the puppet theater, where she finds Frodo and other survivors. Everyone remains silent, and Henri, another survivor, signals her to stay quiet. Military helicopters issue warnings for civilians to remain hidden and silent until rescue arrives. Sam sees the bridges out of Manhattan being destroyed to prevent the creatures from escaping the island. In a tense moment, a panicked survivor is accidentally killed by Henri while trying to keep him quiet.

That night, a power outage triggered the building’s emergency generator, causing a loud noise. Reuben turns off the generator, but the noise attracts a creature that kills him. Grieving, Sam decides to leave for Harlem with Frodo. The military announces an evacuation plan from South Street Seaport, as the creatures cannot swim. People begin moving towards the evacuation point, but their collective noise draws the creatures, leading to an attack and a stampede. Sam flees in the opposite direction, getting separated from Frodo in the process.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, 87% of the 247 critics rated the movie positively, giving it an average rating of 7.2 out of 10.

As of July 4, 2024, “A Quiet Place: Day One” has earned $73.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $45.5 million internationally, totaling $118.9 million worldwide.

In the United States and Canada, the film was released alongside “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” and was expected to earn between $40–50 million from 3,707 theaters during its opening weekend. On its first day, it grossed $22.5 million, which included $6.8 million from Thursday night previews, the highest in the series. The movie debuted with $52.2 million.
