Plot
In New York City, an actor explores the set of a supernatural horror film, The Georgetown Project, which bears a resemblance to The Exorcist. While alone on set, he experiences eerie occurrences and meets a mysterious and untimely death.
Following this incident, the film’s director casts Anthony Miller, an aging and alcoholic actor, to portray a priest in the movie. Anthony’s daughter, Lee, who has been suspended from high school, works as his assistant. Both Anthony and Lee are grappling with the grief of losing Lee’s mother. Anthony’s troubled past as a victim of sexual abuse resurfaces, causing him significant distress both on and off the film set. He frequently suffers from flashbacks of his molestation, which hampers his performance. The director, skeptical of Anthony’s stability and faith, considers replacing him and openly criticizes his troubled history.
Lee grows increasingly worried about her father’s erratic behavior, which includes self-harm, sleepwalking, and neglecting his medication. Amid this turmoil, Lee befriends Blake, a well-known TV actress who is cast as a possessed girl in the film. Concerned for her father’s safety and sanity, Lee and Blake seek advice from Father Conor, a Catholic priest and psychiatrist who is consulting for the film. Despite their efforts, Anthony’s behavior deteriorates further. On set, he acts as if possessed, contorting his body and slamming his head into a table. This alarming display leads to his replacement by Joe, who was initially cast as another priest in the movie.
