The film stars Ajay Devgn as Syed Abdul Rahim, the legendary coach who is often regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. The story focuses on Rahim’s journey as he transforms the Indian national football team during the 1950s and early 1960s, culminating in their victory at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta.

Plot

At the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, the Indian national football team suffers a significant defeat against Yugoslavia, losing 10-1. The All India Football Federation holds coach Syed Abdul Rahim responsible for the poor performance. Rahim requests permission to form a new team with fresh players. Despite reluctance from some members, particularly Subhankar, Rahim gains support from President Anjan, who grants his request. Rahim then scouts talent from across India, assembling a new team that includes Tulsidas Balaram from Secunderabad, Peter Thangaraj from Hyderabad, and P. K.

At the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, the Indian team faces Australia. An Australian player disrespects Neville D’Souza by making him tie his shoes, but Neville responds by scoring a hat-trick, leading India to a 7-1 victory and shocking the Australian team. The Indian team finishes in fourth place at the Olympics. Meanwhile, Roy Choudhary and Subhankar plot to remove Rahim from the federation and install Subhankar as President. At the 1960 Summer Olympics, the Indian team faced France, considered the best team in the world.
