Madame Web is a 2024 American superhero film directed by S.J. Clarkson, featuring the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film is part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) and stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra “Cassie” Webb, a young paramedic who gains clairvoyant powers following an accident.

Plot

“In 1973, in the Peruvian Amazon, a research team led by the pregnant Constance Webb discovered an unidentified spider species with rare healing properties. Ezekiel Sims, hired for protection, betrays the team, seizes the spider, and shoots Constance before fleeing, leaving her for dead. An indigenous tribe attempts to save her by having a spider bite her, but she dies shortly after giving birth to her daughter, Cassandra.

Thirty years later, Cassandra, now known as Cassie, works as a paramedic in New York City with her colleagues Ben Parker and O’Neil. After a near-death experience during a call, Cassie begins to have visions. Initially dismissing them as déjà vu, she realizes she can see the future after failing to save O’Neil.

Ezekiel, with limited precognition and enhanced physical abilities, targets three teenage girls—Julia Cornwall, Anya Corazon, and Mattie Franklin—believing they are destined to kill him. Cassie, also drawn to the girls, stops Ezekiel from ambushing them at Grand Central Terminal. She steals a taxi and takes the girls to a nearby forest to hide.

Cassie then finds her mother’s notes revealing Ezekiel’s identity and powers. The girls ignore Cassie’s instructions and go to a diner, where Ezekiel finds them. Cassie briefly incapacitates Ezekiel by hitting him with a car and taking the girls to Ben’s house in Queens for refuge.
