Production

On 30 September 2017, Kamal Haasan announced Indian 2, a sequel to the 1996 film Indian. Haasan confirmed he would reprise his role, with S. Shankar returning as the director.

The film was initially set to be produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations. However, the studio withdrew from the project the following month, reportedly due to escalating production costs.
