Plot

Decades after an apocalypse, Australia has become a radioactive wasteland, with the Green Place of Many Mothers being one of the few areas still abundant in fresh water and agriculture. While children Furiosa and Valkyrie are picking peaches, raiders discover the Green Place. Furiosa sabotages their motorcycle raiders as a prize for their league.

Mary, Furiosa’s mother, follows them to the Horde’s camp, killing all but one raider, who brings Furiosa to Dementus. Before he can reveal the Green Place’s location, Furiosa mortally wounds the last raider. Mary sneaks into the camp to rescue Furiosa, but Dementus catches up to them. Mary stays behind to buy time for Furiosa to escape, giving her a peach pit as a keepsake. However, Furiosa refuses to leave her mother. Haunted by his own family’s death, Dementus adopts Furiosa against her will, hoping she will eventually lead him to Green Place.

Later on, Dementus launches an attack on the Citadel, another settlement with fresh water and agriculture. However, the Horde is driven back by the War Boys, the loyal army of the Citadel’s warlord, Immortan Joe.

As of July 8, 2024, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has earned $67.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $105.3 million in international markets, totaling $172.7 million worldwide. Despite these earnings, the film’s box-office performance has been considered a failure. Critics and industry analysts have pointed out that the franchise’s overall limited appeal and the specific challenges of prequels significantly contributed to the film’s disappointing financial results.
