Thelma the Unicorn: OTT Platform, Plot, and Movie Review

Plot

bandmates, Otis the donkey and Reggie the llama, forming a band called The Rusty Buckets. After a humiliating audition failure that ruins their chance at performing in the SparklePalooza showcase, a clumsy truck driver drenches Thelma, who is wearing a carrot on her forehead, in glitter and pink paint, giving her the look of a unicorn. Attracting a small crowd to her farm, she seizes the moment to sing. Despite Otis’ objections to maintaining the facade and preferring to perform as their true selves, Thelma decides to stick with the unicorn appearance.

Peggy Purvis, a blind retired record dealer, hears The Rusty Buckets on TV and decides to make them her new comeback attraction. Thelma soon catches the eye of snooty manager Vic Diamond, who works for the arrogant singer Nikki Narwhal. Vic contacts Peggy and, after some persuasion, convinces her to have Thelma open for Nikki’s new concert. Reluctantly, Peggy agrees, but when they meet with Vic, he uses a missile to destroy a limo carrying Peggy, her husband Gerald, Otis, and Reggie, while he and Thelma proceed without them.

At Nikki’s show, when Thelma’s friends fail to arrive on time, she performs solo and receives a standing ovation. Vic makes her sign a contract, becoming her manager and allowing him to leave Nikki. Furious at being upstaged, Nikki attempts to attack Thelma but is booed by the audience, causing her fame to plummet. Outside, Thelma argues with Otis about him and the rest of her friends missing the show.

She confides her secret to Vic, but he dismisses it, saying that maintaining a facade is necessary for success. Vic convinces Thelma to pretend to date internet star Danny Stallion to boost her fame. Meanwhile, Nikki instructs her assistant, Megan Shank, to find dirt on Thelma to ruin her image.
