Maidaan is a 2024 Indian Hindi-language biographical sports drama film directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. The film stars Ajay Devgn as Syed Abdul Rahim, the legendary coach who is often regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. The story focuses on Rahim’s journey as he transforms the Indian national football team during the 1950s and early 1960s, culminating in their victory at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta.
Plot
The plot revolves around the challenges Rahim faces as he takes over a team that suffers a significant defeat at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Determined to turn things around, Rahim scouts talent from across India, building a cohesive team that goes on to achieve notable successes, including a fourth-place finish at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics
